During the 10th -17th May 2010, Arsenal Park is the Art Military Body. Nine artists, busy with a Master of Arts on painting, second year, Art Faculty, Timisoara, guided by Ph Dr. Daniela Acea, chose to put together a project called EXPO-ZID or “Display on a wall” in the premises of Arsenal Park.

The passion for painting of the engineer, who happens to be an artist as well, Rodica Strugaru, has given rise to this creation camp. The EXPO-ZID project is moulded on the concept of Arsenal Park, combining past and present. The name of the project comes from the concept itself: the old wall of the former munitions factory does not stand against blasts any more, but serves as a place for “hanging” a work of art.
The artists’ volets, “this boxing” of the new into the old, as Mrs. Strugaru stated, can make you think of a succession of paintings displayed in an exhibition; “displayed not in a fancy gallery but on plain wall: it is not a regular display, it is actually the ‘Expo-zid’”. These pieces of art you can take to different sites: churches, monasteries, old cities or boroughs, each carrying on the idea of past.
The way the artists feel, imagine, create is what brings the new into the old frame. This project represents a new experience, a true challenge for the artists: they discovered the enchantment of painting in the middle of the nature. Nature and buildings around have made possible EXPO-ZID. Sixteen beautiful paintings, large as 3mx3m, will make the delight of those interested in art and who will choose Arsenal Park.
ARSENAL PARK is a tourist ground with 3-star military distinction, one of the few sites in Europe having a military concept. Built on the exact spot of the former munitions factory in Orastie, ARSENAL PARK has created a new embodiment of military life: The Holiday Soldier. You can still discover the site’s military, male attitude of a garrison but now you are not given a drill but a thrill. The 80 hectares of Arsenal Park has a whole range of opportunities: adventure, military outdoor museum, playground in natural surroundings.
